LIFT CERT LTD is pleased to announce its accreditation by UKAS for the certification of the following management systems:
QUALITY to BS EN ISO 9001:2008
This accreditation is additional to our approval as a Notified Body under the Lifts Regulations 1997 and the Supply of Machienry (Safety) Regulations 2008.
In recognition of the expertise and competencies of Lift Cert Ltd employees, we are restricting the scope of approvals to those companies involved in the Lift Industry as desginers, manufacturers, suppliers, installers, testers, service, refurbishment , consultants and trade bodies representing the lift industry.
Lift Cert Ltd operates its certification and approvals processes such that all decisions made for the award, continuing registration and, where necessary, suspension or withdrawal of certification are based upon independent, impartial and competent audits and reviews. Please refer to our Quality Policy.
The Scheme Rules which govern these activities and detail both the clients' and Lift Cert Ltd's responsibilities are available on request or via our Services page.
Lift Cert Ltd employ auditors and assessors who are competent and particularly aware of the requirements of the Lift Industry. Lift Cert Ltd do not offer consultancy services related to the implementation of documented management systems.
All activities of Lift Cert Ltd are continuously monitored by a Certification Management Board who by assessment and review ensure that all decisions on certification are impartial, fair and independent. This includes review of risks to impartiality and financial controls to mitigate against or eliminate such risks.
Presently we are in the process of obtaining certifiation for Occupational Health and Safety accreditation under BS OHSAS 18001:2007. We are able to issue non-accredited certification which can be upgraded to full registration upon confirmation of our accreditation

Established in 2002, Lift Cert Limited is a company approved as a Notified Body under the requirements of The Lifts Regulations 1997 by BERR - Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform. The regulations implement the European Communities Lifts Directive (95/16/EC) which is one of a large number of product directives intended to ensure a free movement of goods across the member states.

In order to ensure that we are fully up to date with developments within the European and National regulations and relevant standards, we attend the UK Association of Notified Bodies - Lifts, European Notified Body - Lifts Forum and the British Standard Committee for Lifts and Escalators (MHE/4). The Technical Director is currently Vice President of the European Forum of Notified Bodies. Continuous attendance at these committees ensures that the information we provide to our clients is accurate and up to date.

The technical team at Lift Cert Limited have a combined experience including apprenticeships totalling over 100 years in the lift industry. We are therefore, conversant with the problems experienced by lift installers and their customers thus ensuring a practical response to resolve any issues whilst also ensuring compliance with the Lifts Regulations 1997.

MACHINERY (Vertical Lifting Platforms)
In February 2005 Lift Cert Limited were appointed by BERR - Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform as a Notified Body under Regulation 18(1) of the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 1992 (As Amended).
This means that we are able to conduct assessment and certification of devices falling within the scope of Schedule 4, clause 16 of the Regulations. The most relevant type of device being Vertical Lifting Platforms for disabled access.
